Norika Matsuyama has danced principal or featured roles in Tomasson’s Giselle (Peasant pas de cinq, Giselle’s Friends, and Solo Wilis), Nutcracker (Queen of the Snow, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Spanish), Romeo & Juliet (Acrobats and Juliet’s Friends), The Sleeping Beauty (Fairy of Playfulness and Pas de Six/Sapphire Fairy), Swan Lake (Act 1 pas de trois, Cygnets, and Neapolitan), and 7 for Eight; Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Kitri’s Friends, Cupid, and Bridesmaids); Balanchine’s Coppélia (Swanilda’s Friends, Waltz of the Hours soloist, Spinner, and Jesterettes), Serenade (Russian corps), and Theme and Variations (soloist); Cranko’s Onegin (Olga); Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude; Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” from La Bayadère, Act II (3rd Solo Shade); Peck’s In the Countenance of Kings (Electress); and Thatcher’s Manifesto (principal). She created roles in Marston’s Snowblind, Peck’s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, and Pita’s Björk Ballet.
Her repertory includes Morris’ Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes, Robbins’ The Cage, Scarlett’s Frankenstein, Tomasson’s On a Theme of Paganini, and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Courtiers).
Norika was featured in Pointe magazine’s “2016 Stars of the Corps” in August 2016. She danced in the film of Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet (Acrobats) in the inaugural season of Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance.
